The Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club will hold its 21st Annual Duck Race this 4th of July weekend at the Stevens Brook Dam just before the bridge on Main Street, Bridgton. The exciting albeit short race is a favorite among children and adults alike. The winners receive checks for $500 for first prize, $250 for second prize, and $100 for third prize. There will be several consolation prizes as well.
Local Rotarians have been selling tickets in the community, especially at Renys the past two weekends. Before the fireworks at Stevens Brook Elementary School on Saturday, July 3rd, the Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club will have a booth and Rotarians will walk among the crowds offering tickets for sale. Finally, the day of the Duck Race, Sunday, July 4th, tickets will be available at the Stevens Brook Bridge on Main Street until 11am. The Duck Race will take place before the parade begins.
"The Duck Race is one of our biggest fundraisers", remarked Jessica Putnam who assumes the presidency for the local Rotary Club on July 1st. While selling tickets with daughter Landyn and Rotarian Carmen Lone outside Reny's on Saturday, June 26, Jessica continued, "We couldn't do the many projects in the community that we do without the help and generosity of all those in the community who buy our tickets."
