08 Aug. 2024 Carmen Lone - Bridgton Food Pantry - New Location Update on the Bridgton Food Pantry and upcoming move - New Location Alliance Church Aug. 08, 2024 7:30 a.m. ARMEN LONE TO SPEAK TO ROTARY CLUB ON AUGUST 8TH ABOUT BFP The Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club is pleased to welcome Carmen Lone as speaker on Thursday, August 8, at 7:30 a.m. at The Alliance Church at 368 Harrison Road in Bridgton. Carmen will speak in her role as a member of the board of the Bridgton Food Pantry. She was president of the board when the food pantry secured funding and the location for its new home. Carmen Lone has been on the Bridgton Select Board for several years, presently serving as its Chair. Also, she was Executive Director of the Bridgton Community Center for over 20 years until her retirement in June 2022. Her contributions to the community have been widely recognized, and she continues to be an active member of Bridgton’s civic life. The meeting is free and open to the public.

12 Sep. 2024 Dr. Roger Fagan Support of a Global Grant for a Hearing Clinic in the Dominican Republic Sep. 12, 2024 7:30 a.m. Dr. Roger Fagan is an audiologist who has served the hearing impaired in Maine from 1972-2021. He was in the first audiology exchange to China in 1988 and founded a Rotary hearing aid donation program in the Vellore Christian Medical Center in Vellore India in 1992. He has been a Portland Rotarian for 32 years and is the recipient of the Rotary International Service Above Self award. He and his wife Dr. Elizabeth Fagan, a speech-language pathologist, have donated their time through Portland Rotary to improving the lives of the hearing impaired in the Dominican Republic. Since 2002 this Rotary hearing team has gone on 25 missions to the Dominican Republic, delivering over 4,500 hearing aids to the poorest of the poor in that country. Dr. Fagan is currently writing a Global Grant to create a self-sustaining Rotary Hearing Clinic at the Good Samaritan Hospital in La Romana, Dominican Republic.

24 Oct. 2024 Gordon Smith, Esq Director of Opioid Response Oct. 24, 2024 7:30 a.m. Gordon H. Smith, Esq. was appointed by Governor Janet Mills as Director of Opioid Response in January 2019. He is responsible for coordinating and directing Maine’s response to the opioid crisis, including prescriber education and reduction of opioid prescribing, prevention and treatment of substance use disorder, and harm reduction strategies. He stepped down as the Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Maine Medical Association in January 2019, where he had served as its EVP since September 1993 and where he began as General Counsel in 1981. He graduated from the University of Maine with the highest distinction in 1973 and from the Boston College Law School, magna cum laude, in 1976. He is a past Chairman of the American Society of State Medical Association Counsel, a nation-wide group of 140 attorneys representing medical associations. Mr. Smith has also served as Chairman of the American Medical Association/State Medical Society Litigation Center, the Maine Health Data Organization and the Advocacy Resource Center of the American Medical Association. He is a former board member and chair of Quality Counts, a former board member of the Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership, and the Maine Association of Area Agencies on Aging. Mr. Smith is a frequent lecturer to medical groups on various medical legal subjects.
